15th august is national day of Liechtenstein . This is celebrated since 1940 each year. This day is celebrated as anniversary of birthday of Prince Franz-Josef II. People each year on this day meet together and celebrate at Vaduz castle in capital city. Lots of fireworks are cracked in night.
Oben am jungen Rhein is Liechtenstein national anthem. The national anthem is written by Jakob Josef Jauch in 1850 and its music is influenced by British melody by unknown composer. This anthem was adopted officially in 1870. Lyrics were first printed in 1875. After that some part of it was lost so later in 1920 the lyrics had lost 5 / 6 verses , so again a at last version of anthem was written in 1963 that has only first and last verse from 1920 version.

The national flag of Liechtenstein is dual colored flag having two horizontal stripes of blue and red color. Vibrant red and dark blue colors are used. The upper stripe is blue colored and has a golden crown on its left side and lower stipe is red colored. Flag was adopted in June 30, 1982 . Earlier the flag doesn’t had the crown which was added later in 1937 after the Olympics that were held between countries where the Liechtenstein came to find out that their flag is similar to another country’s flag. The colors of flag have their own cultural , religious , political meaning. The blue color is representation of sky while red symbolizes the evening fires. These evening fires are burnt in each house in evening. The crown symbolizes the unity of people and the prince.
The national emblem of Liechtenstein represents the national solidarity of royal family and prince so its use is only restricted to the prince and members of his house. But public is allowed to use only in case when the matter is related to interest of state. There are four quarters in this emblem and each represent t to a different region or family with which Liechtenstein has any background connection. In first quarter , arms of Silesia are shown which are small regional areas in Poland and also in Czech republic and Germany. In second quarter , Kuenringfamily arms are depicted. While third quarter shows Duchy of Troppau which was principality of opava. In fourth quarter the County of Rietberg is present which was State of Holy Roman Empire was.

Vaduz is capital city of Liechtenstein. It covers area of 17.3 km2 (6.7 sq. miles). It is internationally well known city yet it is not most populous city. It has total population of about 5,450. Its climate is marine with summers that are mild hot and cool winters. July is hottest month while January is coldest month here. Vaduz castle is most beautiful landmark of city where prince and his family lives. Because of its beauty this city also has tourist attraction spot. Country’s national art gallery and museum are also present in this city.
Swiss Franc is national currency of Liechtenstein . It was adopted in 1920. Fr is official symbol of currency Swiss franc. It is further subdivided into 100 subdivisions. 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 & 1,000 francs are banknotes issued by state bank. While 5, 10 & 20 Rp., 1⁄2, 1, 2 & 5 Fr are the coins frequently used. Swiss national bank is official bank that issues that notes and coins. The coins are engraved by different designs that represent the historical people and values.
Trachten is national and traditional dress of Liechtenstein . Normally people wear modern clothes of western styles but on special events and occasions these trachten are preferred. For men it is having knee length breeches , flat black hat , woolen jacket also called as loden. While women wear a dress that has gathered waist with full skirt and apron. These people try to look decent in clothing’s when they are out. In Germany too same dress code is followed as national dress.
Red and blue are the national colors of Liechtenstein . These are the two colors that are present if Liechtenstein flag. These colors have their own symbolic meaning. The blue color means sky whereas the red color refers to evening fir that is used to light up in every house in evening in Liechtenstein .
Alfred Lichtenstein is national poet of Liechtenstein . He was born in 23 August 1889 and died in 25 September 1914 at age of 25. He belonged to Jewish family and was a son of a manufacturer. He was having citizenship of Germany. He studied from university y of berlin and was an expressionist writer. He wrote a lot of work in poetry and his work was acknowledge throughout the country that he earned the national level.
Liechtenstein is a country that has no direct airline that fly’s from the country so people of this country first move to Switzerland and from there they move to other countries through the service of Switzerland airlines.
Liechtenstein National Museum is national museum tat is located in capital city Vaduz. His museum has its origins that begin from 1438. Later in 1998-2008 the museum was renovated ad many constructional changes were done in its architecture. Museum has 28 rooms in which many historical , cultural and other arts are depicted. Many cultural shows are also being conducted here that spot light on cultural histories and modification and changes through which the culture and art went through.
Liechtenstein state library is national library of Liechtenstein. This library has copyright claim. This library has 250000 items. It was formed in 1961 by national library foundation. This is also called as state library which has legal deposits.
The Rheinpark Stadion is national stadium of country and is located in capital city in Vaduz. It has capacity of 7,584 people. It was opened for use in 31st July 1998 while the stadium was expanded later in 2006. Many football matches are held here.
In Liechtenstein many sports are being played like Soccer, downhill skiing, tennis, swimming and biking on mountains. But football is official game and is played all over country with great zeal and zest. Even the national stadium is used to play football game.
Rhine is National River of Liechtenstein . It is also linked to Germany, Switzerland and Netherlands where as it receives its water source from Switzerland. River Rhine is one of largest rive of this area and is almost 27km away from border of Switzerland. This river irrigates the eland of Liechtenstein and is a major source of water for people. It is 1,230 km in length. Seven canal systems originate from this river.
Grauspitz is the mountain range of Liechtenstein that basically does not lie entirely in Liechtenstein but is placed between border of Liechtenstein and Switzerland. It is highest mountain of Liechtenstein and has highest point elevation of 2,599 meters above sea level. On both sides this mountain is covered by river Rhine basin. The mountain is also name as grey peak.
There is no national park in Liechtenstein whereas Malbi-park , Galina Falcon Center are two other parks of Liechtenstein . These parks preserve the biodiversity and is a spot for recreation of Liechtenstein people.
Liechtenstein is a small country having green grass lands and many animal species reside there but even then the country has no national or official zoo for animals.
Liechtenstein has many forests and about 43% of its land that is equivalent to 7000 ha area is covered by forests. These forests have many landscapes and about 310 different types of animal species lives here which include different amphibians , reptiles , insects birds and other mammals. It has largest carbon biomass and produces ample of wood every year. But beside everything it has no national forest.

Lily is the national flower of Liechtenstein . Liles come in various colors but yellow lily is national flower of Liechtenstein . The color yellow has its own meaning which means thankfulness and the pleasure of enjoyment among people. At official occasions , events these yellow lilies are preferred to be given in bouquets.
Liechtenstein is a forested country and has 310 types of different species of animals residing in these forests yet they have no national anima al and kestrel that is national bird is also considered as national animal because it is belongs to mammals.
Kestrel is national bird of Liechtenstein . It belongs to falcon genus. They fly 10-20mmeters above sea level to find their pray. They are considered as small mammals. They are called as wind hover in some areas because of their special feature that they can hover still in air. Males and females differ in their plumage pattern. They eat and prey rodents. These are sensitive to ultraviolet rays and these rodents when urinate their urine has UV rays that make rodents easily visible to them. These birds do not build their own nests yet they use the nests occupied by some other species.
These kestrel appear in many different forms so they are grouped into many groups.
Liechtenstein is not an agricultural land. Most of its area is covered with forests that has wild trees and bushes so no fruit is considered as official national fruit of Liechtenstein . Yet many other fruits that are imported from other countries like bananas apples and grapes etc. are enjoyed by people of Liechtenstein .
Liechtenstein has many grasslands and landscapes but it is not an agricultural land. Most of its area is covered with forests that has wild trees and bushes so no specific vegetables are grown here. Most of these are imported. Yet cabbages , tomatoes, greens , potatoes , are few vegetables that are grown in this country but no one is regarded as national vegetable of Liechtenstein .
Liechtensteiner cuisine is cuisine that is formed after being influenced by neighboring countries most probably Switzerland and Austria. Many kinds of soups and cheese are its main parts. Many dairy items are also used as well as vegetables are also used.
There is national sweet dish of Liechtenstein . But even then country enjoys a lot of desserts like ribel which is famous for its delicacy. In it many fruits are used to add flaavour.
There is no national drink of Liechtenstein yet Beer , Cocoa , Coffee, , Milk – consumed as a beverage by many Liechtensteiners andWine are most frequently used drinks of Liechtenstein . These are drank of special occasions to celebrate those festivals. Pinot Noir and Müller-Thurgau are most famous grapes of Liechtenstein and they are used to make wine in industries.
Liechtenstein enjoy lot of public holidays 1st January of new year , 6th Jan of three kings day , Easter ( April 19 ) , ester Monday (22nd April ) , labors day ( 1st may ) , ascension day ( 30 may ) , national day ( 15 august ) , nativity of our lady ( 08 September ) , Christmas eve ( Dec 24 ) , Christmas day ( 25 Dec ) , new year’s eve ( 31st Dec ). These all holiday are enjoyed each year.
